The Y, a leading nonprofit dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, is looking for enthusiastic Personal Trainers to guide our members on their fitness journeys. This role primarily focuses on achieving the health and fitness goals of our members and participants by designing simple workout programs. 


Schedule: The schedule is dependent on the availability and number of personal training clients you work with. Hours working with personal training clients could occur during any time the Greater Burlington YMCA is open. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Consult and Advise: Work closely with members to understand their personal fitness goals. Provide expert advice and guidance to help them achieve those goals through tailored fitness training.
  • Design Personalized Workouts: Create customized training programs that align with each member’s fitness level and objectives, ensuring a safe and effective workout plan.
  • Educate and Instruct: Teach members how to use equipment safely and effectively, while keeping them informed about the latest training principles and techniques.
  • Stay Updated: Share current research and information related to fitness, health, and wellness to help members stay informed and on track with their goals.
  • Provide Support: Offer individual supervision, encouragement, and motivation during training sessions to help members push through challenges and celebrate successes.
  • Be a Role Model: Promote a positive fitness culture through your actions and words, setting an example for members to follow.
  • Stay Connected: Attend scheduled employee meetings and participate in training seminars or workshops to stay updated and enhance your skills.
  • Keep Records: Maintain accurate client records and notes to track progress and ensure a personalized experience.
  • Promote and Sell: Help grow our fitness programs by marketing, promoting, and selling personalized training packages to meet department goals.

Qualifications:
 
  • Current certification in fitness from a nationally recognized organization (ACE, NCSA, AFAA, ACSM, etc.)
  • Experience with fitness equipment usage procedures and maintenance.
  • A team player with strong motivation and initiative.
  • Ability to work within a diverse population of employees and members.

  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The physical demands of this job require demonstration of all exercises prescribed to personal training clients. This requires lifting up to 50 lbs and being proficient with all exercise equipment used on the YMCA Wellness floor.

Compensation: $22.00 - $27.99 per hour
